Welcome to the fantastic world of The Dark Eye!

The Dark Eye Basic RulesThese pages give you all the information you need to get the most out of your TDA Mobile adventures. We have adapted all of the Dark Eye Basic Rules, as well as a few Advanced Rules, for use on your cell phone. Some of the rules needed to be changed slightly to make them work on cell phones. We have clearly pointed out all instances of this. If you have already played the game, you will feel right at home. If you have never heard of The Dark Eye, the information you find on these pages (along with the links to even more info) will tell you everything you need to know.

The Dark Eye is a fantasy role-playing game, encompassing an entire universe of adventure. Aventuria is a continent on the world of Ethra, a place similar to Earth. From north to south, Aventuria runs for about 3,000 Middenmiles; the broadest part measures about 2,000 Middenmiles from coast to coast. (One Middenmile equals one real-world kilometer.)

That seems not to be very large, but you have to consider that traveling from one end of the continent to the other – using Aventurian means of transportation like horses, mules, or simple walking – takes at least three months.

Map of AventuriaThe northernmost habitable part of Aventuria is an island called Yeti’s Land. Further north of Yeti’s Land, there is only eternal ice (even in summer, the ice almost reaches the island) as far as one can see. In the far north-east, a mighty mountain range marks the boundary of the continent Aventuria: The Brazen Sword. To the west are the Northern Steppes, the Fountland, the impassable, fairy-tale like forests of the Salamander Stones (a huge mountain chain), the dry, next to treeless steppes of the Orkland, and, finally, Thorwal on the western coast. South of this girdle lie the two small kingdoms of Nostria and Andergast, as well as Aventuria's largest political entity: the feudal Middenrealm - also called, New Empire - with its capital city of Gareth, the largest city in all of Aventuria. East of the huge Middenrealm lies Arania, a land of ancient traditions and mysteries. Even further east is the island of Maraskan, separated from the mainland by 40 Middenmiles of Marasakan Sound. The Khôm Desert, the largest of its kind in Aventuria, is home to the Novadis, proud riders and desert warriors. North-east of this desert is the Mhanadi Valley, home to the Tulamides, who are one of Aventuria's native tribes, differing in appearance from the average descendant of the people of the Middenrealm in their mostly black hair and dark complexion. Here you will also find the fairy-tale city of Rashdul, where the sorcerous sultan, Hasrabal, has taken princess Nedime as a prisoner - who you may try to free in the first TDE Mobile adventure! West of the Khôm, the Horasian Empire is situated in a stretch of land known as the Fairfield. Further to the south are steaming jungles, where the the native woodmen, often called Mohas, barter their famous Moha poisons for iron weapons - at least as long as they are not captured and taken as slaves to Al'Anfa, the second-largest city in all of Aventuria (often called the "Plague Boil of the South"), or to some of the city states on the Cyclops Islands (where the second TDE Mobile adventure is set) or the Forest Islands. In these parts of the world, pirates often hold sway.

There is a lot more to Aventuria, however, than just this listing of geographical regions: humans, elves, and dwarfs live and die there, till their fields and ply their crafts, wage wars and conduct trade. Aventuria is a magical world of magicians, witches, dragons, unicorns, fiends, fairies - and the firm knowledge that magical spells and divine intervention have always influenced the fates and the histories of all the world's peoples. And now we invite you to become a part of it all!

Screenshot TextexampleYou take on the role of the main character in a story. This story has been divided into several parts and you get to choose between various plot alternatives. All the decisions are up to you, and the fate of your hero is in your hands alone.

Before playing your first TDE Mobile adventure, you need to create a hero of your own. There is a total of 14 archetypes to choose from. There is equality between the sexes in Aventuria, meaning it doesn't matter whether you will be playing a male or a female hero. You will find more information on the archetypes here: Archetypes.

It is possible to create a new hero during an adventure. If you do so, however, you will need to start again from the beginning.

While playing, the game will save automatically at checkpoints. You may load one of these saved games from the main menu. If you create a new hero, all saved games will be lost, since you may never have more than one hero at the same time. If you turn on your cell phone and start the game, this will always take you to the section you have played last.

Once you have successfully completed the adventure, you may upload your hero over the air onto our server. This service is for free! Look at the Hall of Fame and compare your success with the heroes of other players. You may then use the same hero for your next TDE Mobile adventure. By the way, you may play the TDE Mobile Adventures in every order you want. The challenges will be adjusted automatically.

An Aventurian hero is defined by various game statistics. The most basic of these are the hero's Attributes. Your hero has also access to several Talents.

If you have already taken a look at the Archetypes, you will have noticed that these come complete with Weapons and Armor. Each hero you create will begin the game with equipment appropriate for the respective Archetype. With the exception of the first TDE Mobile adventure, all allow you to sell items found during a game and buy new stuff at merchants.

After certain accomplishments, your hero will be awarded Adventure Points, equaling experience gained during adventures. You may use these Adventure Points to improve your hero's game statistics in anticipation of even greater challenges.
